I've had enough of both the "Religious and Politcal" thread and "I'm gonn kill someone" and have removed them from this board.
I removed these two posts because of the tone they had taken, a tone that was to the detriment of the entire board.
This was done not because I agreed or disagreed with any of the sentiments expressed and as a raging Libertarian I truly do not want to step on anyones free spech toes and for that I appoligize.
I also appoligize to anyone who was offended by either post for not removing them earlier.
I am sorry that it came to this...I urge all members to use a little restraint and to think of your fellow members before posting ANYTHING.....

Let me start with, I agree with Madjack's actions and sentiments concerning the two threads that were pulled. We have a great community here on this board, let's not ruin it. Freedom of speech is a great thing, but along with it comes responsibility. A little self control can go a long way towards keeping this forum friendly and enjoyable. Situations like what happened today are not fun for anyone and can be avoided with a little constraint.

There we go again...Always me and Ira.

Hey, if the shoe fits....

But seriously, you both contribute many constructive and/or entertaining posts to this board, it makes one wonder why all the negative comments become necessary? Not to single you two out (you did that yourself) I just feel everyone needs to take a deep breath and try to get past all the negativity.

Hi

Why not just remove the offending post from within the thread? ie if you get a patient with gangrene in the foot, you treat the foot not shoot the patient.

I have noticed that certain individuals when losing a debate proceed to up the abuse level to get the whole thread removed.

Better yet leave all the posts up and just ban the abuser

I cant be the only one who hates to come back and find whole threads removed and have no idea why, Ok blank out swear words with something like

Swear word removed, or personal abuse with personal abuse removed,

Well Done MJ, I totally agree with the way this forum is managed. I apparently missed the worst of it but am not interested in posts of this type when you can see that there is only going to be one outcome.
Once again Well Done

Hi Paul

In an adult world we should be able to have an adult conversation, without resorting to abuse, its the abuse that needs stamping out not the topics.

Correctly managed you can have reasoned debate, censoring the abusers without restricting the adults from having a debate would be the ideal solution.

George, We all consist of three different personnas--Adult, Parent, Child. Unfortunately we have trouble in discerning which one we are using at any given time. Make yourself aware of this and I agree that in an Adult world we can all hold reasonable conversations. But when the other party lets one of the other personnas step in we have happen what happened today. So, Yes, I agree with your rationale but I cannot see it happening when we have so many different characters that can become involved in our conversations. So as not to offend anyone in particular, the Admin of this board have no other option but to stop it in total, and with that I agree.
Cheers

Hi Paul

What utter rubbish

We consist of people who can hold a decent debate and those abusive ones who need barring, if they cannot make a point without the abuse then ban them for a short while.

You idea for moderation means that the good people are stiffled from debate along with the bad.

That means the abusive minority rule, every time they start losing a debate they rant and get it removed.

Not much on debate myself. Seems that often times the "winners" of debates are those who talk longer, louder, quicker, and dumber. Guess that kind of goes along with what George said about the abusive minority ranting till they get it removed. If they cannot be seen as the authority on the subject, then they try to see to it that nobody else can be either.

As far as mine went, I think it's a matter of having a sense of humor. What's funny to me may not be funny to others--that's just the way it is.

Never in a million years did I think that post went too far. So you may think I have a bad sense of humor, but I stlll have the right to execute it, correct?

As said above, its the abuse and nasty comments where the line should be drawn. I appreciate the intent of MadJack's thread, but you know this is gonna happen again, right? We're all individuals. So the nasty POSTS should be deleted, and members warned.

So instead, an entire thread got deleted that had 10 posts supporting my position--and none of them nasty or abusive toward anyone. Just adults giving their opinion.

I respect your right to pull the thread, and believe me, this wasn't one I cared about all that much.

Like I said...

IT WAS JUST A JOKE!
