When talking about what to do with an old trailer that was free for the taking, in another area of this forum. I believe it was Andrew (from accross the sea) who said:
"I'm all in favour of cutting up old pop-ups, but this trailer, unless it's rotten right through, looks like it's on the verge of being a classic.

Is this a British thing? Can you guys cut up your recent history without a regret?"

Makes you wonder. We may cut them up and rebuild. But we don't distroy them and then throw them in the trash.

Have a good day.

P.S. My Scotsman is regestered as a 1964 scotsman because before it became a teardrop it was a small travel trailer that was 75% rotten.

It looks like you can see fire inside the trailer if you look through the roof vent as it is disintegrating.
As far as our side of the pond goes... Haven't I seen trailer racing like maybe on SPEED? (Dirt track cars with small travel trailers in tow)
I wonder if Dean (The one near Doug) would try it?...

I believe that takes place in Up State New York. It was probably an idea that came accross the pond. :lol:

Have a good day.

I think thats from an Austrailian smash up derby, there are some shots of some shastas getting smashed up. If my old memory serves me there was a program to get rid of old cars and trailers so there was some governmental sponsorship of this smash up derby. Wish I was there for the extra parts.

Yup, 'caravan' (= trailer) racing is popular on British banger racing (= destruction derby?) tracks. Here is:
- a news article on caravan racing with pictures;
- an amateur video of a caravan race.

The most popular car show on British TV, the BBC's Top Gear, fairly regularly shows caravan destruction stunts - on the crowded and small British roads, following caravans seems to enrage some, if not most, drivers, and showing caravans being destroyed seems to please them.

Well Dean, come on up to Wisconsin! At the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway (about 30 miles from us) they have several interesting races, one of which is known as the Trailer Race of Destruction (tentatively scheduled for July 29 this year). Trailers of all shapes and sizes are dragged/raced around the track until only one is left "intact." Although we've never attended one, we have heard from friends it's pretty entertaining. For those who like such oddities, they also have school bus races, outhouse races and are trying something new this year called the "Faster Pastor" where local pastors take part in racing one another.

The possibilities are endless!
