Hey Snow People--We Want Pictures!

Postby Ira » Sun Feb 12, 2006 10:41 am

All you guys getting belted with the white stuff right now--wanna head outside and give us sun-birders a picture a two?

Maybe Tom using the Dutch Oven with snow up to his knees?

-------------------------------------

And I just realized something--isn't Woody with a group camping up in North Florida this weekend? We've been getting some pretty funky weather down here too, including amazing winds up there. (Just ask Dale.)
Here we go again!

It's been coming down all day. We've already got about a foot on the ground. We've got a blizzard warning until 7 p.m. The temp is dropping as the center of the low-pressure area moves by. Right now it's 15 degrees F.

My 17-year-old has been out plowing the highway since 3 a.m. All day yesterday he was walking around the house with dollar signs in his eyes singing, "there's no business like snow business ..." :money:

Since Ira wants pix. Here goes....

Image

My wife, Wendy, is clearing the snow off my daughter's car. I'm not stupid enough to go out there. I took this shot from the front door. Good for her it's light fluffy snow. I'd hate like heck for her to strain herself shoveling it.

Image

She's aready cleared the her Camry and my Rav/4.

Image

Here's a shot out my kitchen window of my trailers.

Man, you guys in the N.E. are in for a crazy next few days but I would rather take 2 feet of snow than a 1/2" of ice.

Fred, you ALWAYS have snow. SHOWOFF!!!!

And Tom:

WOW! THAT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!

I can't tell you how happy I am that you are able to enjoy that. Why, even if the situations could be reversed...I wouldn't let that happen.

I know how much you love it!

Time to start working on cabinet frames for TD #2!!!!

View from front porch

Postby Bigwoods » Sun Feb 12, 2006 5:44 pm

This is my view from the front porch. Not so much snow, but I love my trees. Only 18" on the ground, but the snow relocation has already taken place.

Fred, you ALWAYS have snow. SHOWOFF!!!!
Right on, Ira. While we really don't get all that much snow, it doesn't melt 'till the end of March. 8) 'Showoff', yes. The official state sport is mushing and Fairbanks is the 'Mushing Capital of the World'. Folks come from all over the world to train & race. And you might say that I have a couple of dogs in the race. Neighbor & rookie, Phil Joy, will probably be happy just to finish. Friend, Gerry Willowmitzer, from Shallow Bay is my pick to win! We'll see in 9-10 days. Fred :snow :snow :snow

Hey Ira, you said you wanted snow pics, does this qualify?

Image

We got over 7 feet during a two week span. I gotta confess, this was two years ago, but hey, you didn't actually say you wanted current ones ;)

Heck, just send us some of the moisture! I've had 1/4" of rain since Halloween! Our ponds are drying up. Our kitchen cabinets are cracking. People are complaining of nose bleeds. IT'S DRY HERE! Send us some of your snow or rain. Puleeeeeeeze! :worship:

You all want snow?, here's some snow trivia. http://www.thestormking.com/Weather/Sie ... wfall.html
Image
How about 454" (37.8') seasonal snowpack at Donner Summit, Ca. 1911
or
Tamarack, California
Sierra Nevada record snowfall during one season:
884 inches (73.7 feet) 1906-07 5
Might not get to -100degrees in California but we do get snow.... ;)
