Things to do in Las Vegas?

Postby TRAIL-OF-TEARS » Mon Feb 13, 2006 2:49 pm

Next month we will be going to Vegas for my sisters wedding. We will be bringing the kids (2 years old and a 2 month old). So I am looking for things to do while we are there other than gambling. We have been to Vegas several times so we have seen the damn, and most of the Casinos. The only thing scheduled this trip, so far, is the Shelby museum. I was wondering about some other places to see or do there with the kids like red rock. Can you guys recommend a place that is a must see. We will be there from Monday- Thursday unfortunately we will not be taking the tear this trip.

Leave. :)

That's what I did on my way to Lake Havasu City last December.

Don't a lot of the hotels have things for kids now where it's almost like Disney for them?

Places mommy can take them while daddy's oogling over cocktail waitresses at the nearby bar?
Here we go again!

Ira, I will let my wife know.

No I mean something to do with the kids. My Mom and Dad will be there so I can leave the kids with them in the evenings but I'm talking about the rest of the time.

Freemont street experiance is good for one night, grand canyon another day trip, take the dam tour. most of the shows are too expensive, ask the bus driver on the way in to take you on a tour of the subbasements where the workers live, most employees live underground, some seven floors or more down. You can visit Carol Lomards plane crash site, on the way to Pharump. Really nothing else there but spend money.

We will be going to Vegas next weekend to pick up our new teardrop. We also were wondering what to do there and where to stay with our teardrop? Will let you know if we see anything that your family might like to see and do in town or outside of town.

Wish you a safe trip,

gman, been to the damn a few times cool but I don't think the oldest will stick with it long enough. The Freemont was cool but a night thing. What is at this plane crash site that sounds cool. I have never seen the grand canyon even though I have been by it a dozen times, so it is on our list. an airplane museum would be something the boy (I) would like too.

Italia good luck with your trip. the water show at the bellagio is awsome. That is something we are going to do as well.

I've camped at Circus Circus before. It's all ashphalt, but cheap (or at least it was a couple of years ago), and convient. They have a pool, laundry, and convience store on the grounds.

While in Pharump, you can visit the hole where Ted Binon had his hoard of silver coins and bars buired in a concrete septic tank, that was dug up in the middle of the night by Rick Tabish. Seems he would not have been stopped if he had done it in daylight, but the Deputy got a little suspicious of a backhoe and dump truck working at 3AM.

http://www.courttv.com/trials/binion/ Drive north to Goldfield, neat old town, or northeast towards St George, great sceanery there too.

( Binon's really did make the employees live on site. charged them for their rooms and allowed them to eat in the cafe. )

Took both my grand kids to Vegas and they though they were in Disneyland with shorter lines and better food. (to my 18yr old grandson eating is a sport)
the MGM and Circus Circus have great rides and the coasters at New York and the stratsphere are unreal (granddaughters remarks) I almost ran out of time to lose money trying to keep up with the kids

Unless MGM reopened the park in the last three years, it was dismantled and torn down to make room for highroller suites. CC is fine, dated but good food, The Stratosphere is the hot ticket for rides but don't eat first.

There is a big arcade just north of the MGM on the same side of the street. Lots of games and rock climbing. In the same building is the M&M store. 3 or 4 stories of M&M stuff and every color you could want of M&M's. The Excalibur has a lot of kid friendly things to do also.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

The Ethyle M chocholate factory tour is great, and while there go thru the Cactus museum out back, never knew how many there were, also the test gardens at the Water company is neat if you like flowers, and Red rock canyon, also there used to be and old west ranch out by the canyon as well but it may be closed.
