Just testing & learning

BTW, it is a cross-section of a Trotwood, but forgot the year of it.

PS to Madjack: No, it is not my "Buggy", I'm in a learning experience kinda moment so I CAN post pictures for you and the others.

JCK,

That is a really nice illustration. I would love to know the dimensions.

Mz Amy,

I would like to dimension it, but I don't have the book anymore. However, it was a commercially produced trailer called Trotwood, circa 1950's. I think I scanned it from Book #3, at this link:

Just eyeballing it I would say it's almost 9' long and 6 1/2' wide and 5' tall.

Each of the beds appear to fold down into a twin sized mattress.

Opps... a quick search found this brochure...

If there's room for 4 adults, that would make each bed at least a full sized, therefore the whole trailer would have to be 12' long, 7' wide and 6' high. :?

I don't know if anyone has seen this (you all probably have), but I found this link today: http://www.trikesaustralia.com/teardrop ... dpages.pdf

from the Aussie Teardrop website which has a download of an article on teardrops from 1947. It has dimensions from the article on how to build this model.

Hmmm... I see not everyone has seen the vintage plans...

Therefore, I have added a link up there in the menu with some Vintage plans that are in the public domain. Thanks PresTx!

Have fun!

I think you were right first time, Mike. That brochure advert looks to be for a trailer that's quite a bit bigger than the one in the cutaway illustration.

That layout is interesting, though a 6 1/2 or 7 foot width is hardly a tiny trailer any more.

Mike, if the woman in the illistration is 5'6" tall, and she fell first to the right, and got back up and fell to the right..it appears she wouldn't hit the ends on either side..so i'd say it's 14 foot long..
