Yes, things are slower now, but thanks to BobHenry's eternal Depot build, I have kept coming back. ;)
How many new family cars are rated to tow over 1000 lbs? Not many. How many 30-somethings have $1000 worth of power tools?
If I could make a change, I would create a separate section for campers under 1000lbs in weight.
With new lumber going for over $1 per board foot a person may have to look outside of the big box stores for materials.
My adopted daughter is 21 and I am thinking, if I build something, I will make it light enough that she could use it in the future, too.

I checked Google analytics and there is as much interest in searching for the words, teardrop camper, as there was back in 2014. But it's seasonal, with the sharpest peaks in the summer. Check it out.

I’ve probably distorted the graph numbers with all my recent searches...

I've long held the theory that Hawaiians don't take multi-day driving trips because they don't have any Motel 6's along their interstates...

@Slowcowboy, web forums as a whole are dying. I was a net diver in the mid 90's to current. I used to belong to 40ish different web forums like here. Facebook was the one holding the weapon. Facebook groups want to try to be useful, but there is no good way to organize info. The closest thing to old-school forums like this is reddit. But even those don't provide the depth that places like this have.

To the OP, this place the last few months has become a bit of a bright spot on the web. I have also curated a instagram and a few multireddit feeds that give me a steady diet of outdoor, athletic and DIY related content. With everything going on right now it is a sanity saver.

I have no social network accounts and really have no plan to start... I bet that makes me sound a lot older than I am. I Just have an appreciation for ideas older than my age. Unfortunately that always seems to culminate in my being late to the party in everything. Life is finally calming down enough as i settle into middle age that I can get into a build. What I would give to be able to have done this 10 years ago when I started learning about it, and the scene still seemed to be in it's renaissance peak.

This is my social network...

Ya can't turn back the clock so just get busy.

I retired at 55. My first teardrop build was when I was 58.

A couple years later I started #2 which my big brother adopted halfway through; him at age 65. At 61 my son asked me to help build #3 for him and his wife. I'm getting hints from my daughter so I'm starting #4 this fall on a pop-up chassis. If I had a heated space I would be busy all winter building these cool little campers (NE WISCO/UP MICH border). I am going to try to get the floor installed and then build the foamie walls, cabinets, whatever I can in the basement this winter so my spring will be... praying for gluing/PMF weather. It'll then be a blur putting it all together.

I just wish I could get a UP gathering planned that peeps would actually like to attend...

Funny enough we just got back from an extended weekend trip up by Torch lake on east side of Grand Traverse Bay. We checked out Barnes county park campground while we were there and realy liked it (Im a sucker for heavily wooded campgrounds). No to mention it is right by the shore of the bay with a short boardwalk to a very nice beach. Drove up to Mackinaw city to check out the area and bridge too, but didn't cross.

Tom

Last year I realized it's cheaper for me to stay in a Motel 6 than go on a long camping trip with a big RV again. It's even more applicable in 2022.
There are a plenty of Ebike trails I hope to visit this year.

My 22 yr old daughter has great PC- She started gaming and started a game streaming channel - she does make some money with it. But it's rare for this current generation to have a regular PC and monitor- they seem to prefer phones, and tablets. Yes, reddit is big and I have an acct, too.
I got back into building PCs again in 2019- I just finished my 3rd one- a 12th gen Intel build. $86 Pentium G7400 and a just released $199 AMD RX 6500 XT graphics card, with a $95 AsRock motherboard. I put in a $5 RGB fan, so my daughter would approve of my work. :)
I used a cheap Rosewill case as they still have the slot for a CD/DVD drive. The parts from the previous builds were sold off on Ebay.
