Amphibious Folding Trailer (for DANL)

Now some people might have thought DANL's amphibious folding tear, the AQUATEAR, wasn't too serious:

A little far-fetched? Not for the inventor of the CARABO:

Here is a web page for the CARABO with some more details - though it is in German (use Babelfish to translate it) and Firefox users should be aware that the pics don't display (if you use Firefox, you must get IE Tab which allows you to view web pages using IE, but from within Firefox).

Quite why you want to have the amphibious capability that the two retracting wheels and the third one in the rudder give you, when you've also got a boat trailer, I don't know.

My thanks to Patrik Koppen of Belgium who let me know about this site.

I suspect you need those extra wheels when getting the "boat" out of the water as the trailer is short. Most boat trailers go to the end of the vessel. With this unit, the trailer goes halfway down the hull. Since it might not be wise to fold it back up whilst on the boat ramp....

Looks like the two retracting wheels are to far forward for that purpose.

Have a good day.

note the picture where it is only setting on the aux wheels on the loading ramp. 2 forward wheels on forward section of hull, "tail wheel" at rudder on stern supports the thing while securing aft section of hull while high and dry. I think it might be difficult to try to launch any boat on a 1/2 length trailer.

Aw, see it now. That would be the ticket. Run the boat up the ramp as far as you could, apply brakes and then back trailer under it, hook up and pull the boat off the ramp. I wonder if I could do something like that to my Del Mar. Na, better not even think of that.

Have a good day.

Hi guys,
I think, you have to unfold the boat, before you let him in to the water, cause I think the door is not for a 100% watertigth. And then you need the wheels to push the boat of the ramp in to the water. You can balance the boat cause the wheels are aprox. in the center of the boat.
I think it's an amazing solution, when you like to travel, and you like to cruise around with a boat. It's developed and made in Switserland, but I've never seen it before.
Greets,
Patrik.
