My neighborhood has been evacuated.....

Postby Larwyn » Wed Apr 19, 2006 6:22 am

I am working out of town again this week.

Lanza called yesterday right after lunch to inform me that they had heard a loud explosion, which turned out to be a gas pipeline rupturing. An hour or so later she called to inform me that the entire neighborhood was being evacuated and would not be able to return untill 9 or 10 pm. Around 9pm she was told that no one would be allowed to return untill at least noon today.

Last I heard the pipline was still "blowing" at 9pm last night. There has been no fire so far, so I'm hoping that everthing at home will survive. Lanza is with friends but left without credit cards etc. I really cannnot abandon my job at this point to go and "rescue" her, but she says she is okay. The only news report I can find on the internet was when they thought they would have the thing shut down in a couple of hours, that obviously did not happen. This thing is in our woods, and VERY near my home, if it ignites the whole neighborhood would probably be gone. Hopefully everthing will turn out okay.

Larwyn, I hope all is O.K. At least your wife got out safely. Isn't Stonepro near you also? Lets just hope you don't need the escape pod.

No word from Lanza yet today.
I do not believe that Steve (Sonetpro) lives in the area that has been evacuated.

Lanza just called, she is at home now.

Renfaire Drive is back to normal..!!! (well, as normal as it has ever been)  :D

She said she drove by this morning to see what was happening and the road blocks and emergency vehicles were all gone. Never heard any anouncement that the street is now open. Those who toughed it out at a nearby Shell station may have been informed when it was clear to return to the property, but I have not heard exactly when and if that happened.

So now the Escape Pod has survived a hurricane and a good gassing. Hope it does as well once finished........... :D

Lawryn I didn't know you were affected. on the way home there was about 50 law enforcement cars from 4 county's and the state troopers, Fire engines from Plantersville and Magnolia at the shell up the street. They said it was on CR302 I didn't realize it was so close to you. I wasn't affected. They said a pipeline burst but no fire. I think it was by the orchard. Glad to here everybody is alright.

Steve,

They should have said CR 303, if it had been CR 302 I would not have been affected.. :D Renfaire Drive is right across the tracks on CR 303. The pipeline ruptured right near that junction of Renfaire and CR 303 less than 1/8th mile from my place. Renfaire Dr was the last street to recieve the "all clear". They even had a section of 1774 shut down for a couple of hours from what I understand.

It's a helpless feeling to be 240 miles away when friends and familey are in such a hazardous situation. I'm glad that is over.

Thanks to all of you for your concern and comment.

Those had to be some trying moments Larwyn. Glad to hear the all clear was sounded and Lanza is back home.

It never hurts to have a strategy in place for bugging out. Ideally that would include the teardrop AND some credit cards! :o

Yep, Mike, you are right. Lanza told me just a few minutes ago that keeping up with her cash and charge cards as well as keepin a good charge on her cell phone now hold a new priority for her......... :D  :D

Hopefully the Escape Pod will be useable before we have another disaster around here..... Someone on this group once asked why I named my trailer the Escape Pod, seeing as how I live in the woods he felt that I was already "there". I had no good answer at the time, but maybe I do now........ :D

Sounds like it... but doesn't that mean your theme has to change too? Instead of escaping to nature, your graphics need to depict escaping something else? :?

Well, maybe I better just leave well enough alone! :Oh Brother:
