Where Does Your Wiring Enter Your TD?

Postby MarcInBoise » Tue Feb 17, 2015 9:17 pm

Still trying to figure out how I'm going to build the cabin... I bought 3/4" sanded plywood for the walls and wasn't going to insulate/sandwich the sides, just the roof and floor. I vacillate on this, thinking I should insulate, then think it's fine without it...

But either way, I'm going to be running my power from the tongue, though the roof.
I'm planning on putting tail lights and license plate light, built into the hatch, so how do I best get the wires there?

I'm thinking it would make sense to put a hole in the front of the trailer and running the power though a grommet like a firewall in a car. But then I go back to not having insulated walls... so how do I run the wire for the side marker lights?

I ran my marker lights underneath, then up into the trailer at the galley bulkhead.

My 12volt wiring for the exterior lights run along the interior of the metal frame of the trailer. Where it passes to holes in the frame, I put caulking on it to keep it from chaffing the wire. All running lights are on the metal trailer frame. 12 volt wiring for interior lights/ceiling fan all run through the interior of the ceiling from a small 12v garden tractor battery in the galley. That battery is recharged when I plug into any campground 110v via a dedicated 'battery tender' in the galley.

hmmm.... I hadn't considered mounting the side marker lights on the frame itself. That's a pretty good plan.
Thanks.

I built wiring runs in the floor. The umbilical connection to the vehicle enters the front of the integrated tongue box. From there it is routed through the trailer.
