PD 4045 question

Anything electric, AC or DC

PD 4045 question

Postby Delta99 » Tue Apr 07, 2015 5:52 pm

I searched, and could not find the answer to this anywhere. Does the PD4000 have a power inverter, to supply a/c from the battery? So if I am camping without a hookup, will I have a/c power, or is it strictly from shore power supply?

simple answer - no.......

It has a converter which changes AC to DC

An inverter changes DC to AC such as this http://www.amazon.com/Xantrex-806-1210-PROwatt-1000-Inverter/dp/B002I04A74/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_cp_1_2KBW?ie=UTF8&refRID=1GR9X5A1NWS86YNP2HAV

No it does not. There are converter inverter combined units but way more expensive. I prefer discrete machines as when one fails you replace/repair only that machine. We have a PD 4045 and a Morningstar Suresine inverter.

Ok, thank you! Not sure if I want to shell out the money for it if doesn't have an inverter. I have a battery charger already, so if that's all it does...

.... but doesyour battery charger have the three stages that the PD has? That is very good as it does help get longer life from a battery.

The PD4045 also replaces your 120VAC circuit breaker panel and distribution center, and the 12VDC fuse block and distribution panel.

My teardrop has been in storage for the last 15 months, with 120VAC supplied to the PD4045. I keep a ventilation fan running 24/7 for air circulation. The PD has kept the battery (a 60AH AGM) topped up and ready to go. After 15 months of storage the battery is as good as it was when I bought it in 2011.

If you need 120 VAC from an inverter, buy a good one and install it alongside the PD.

My $0.02 worth as a happy PD4045 owner
