Wire between Batteries and PD4045

Postby RetchedOne » Thu May 21, 2015 1:03 pm

What gauge of wire should I run between the PD4045 and the batteries (2 6 volt Costco batteries)?
The run will only be about 5 feet
No inverter, just led lights, 12v outlets for phone. NT-16seq furnace
There will be a disconnect and fuse/breaker on the positive batter cable before the PD4045.

6 gauge?

Temperature, insultion type and other factors play in to it,
But basically worst case, 6awg woll carry around 55 amps.
What is a huge amount of DC power within most any RV.

I contacted the manufacturer several months ago with a similar question. They told me that 4 GA is the largest size to use for my unit which is what I ordered for this cable. As far as the smallest you can get away with, hopefully others can join in and advise.

I'll go with 4 GA as well then.

Thanks!

I ordered custom made ones from http://www.genuinedealz.com/custom-cables. They appear to be well made and reasonably priced. Far better then I could do with the limited tools I had.

See http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=6 ... nuinedealz for photos of the cables.
