Either go with a remote switch that you can carry with you or put a switch inside your rig.

If you are inside and have to open the door to turn on the light,
you risk coming head-on with danger of:
1) a bear or other critter or
2) stranger danger.

I put offroad flood lights under each side of my trailer. The flood lights are wired to a 12v automotive relay in the electrical panel in the hatch, then a smaller wire going to a switch on a plate just inside the door which triggers the relay. Each side has its own switch/light.

Relay is only necessary because my floods draw a few amps and small dc switches cant handle much power.

Wire it up as a 3way, one switch inside and another outside, you could even put it in an inauspicious place that you can easily find by brail.
I'll be done when I'm finished, if that's not fast enough, take a number.
