speaker wire????

First off let me start out by saying thanks for everyones help. I feel like I keep asking stupid questions but i'm sure that I'm not the only one wanting to ask them.... Now for another question..... I am about to run the power for all my lights and such. I have a bunch of old extension cord that is 12/3 construction grade. the only problem I see is that it is so big it is going to be hard to hide...... I also have a lor of 16 guage speaker wire that I thought of running instead. Has anyone ever used speaker wire for powering lights and such. The biggest amount of amps on any given circuit will be no more then 10 amps. Also should I run it in the wall or is there special trim with the back notched out so the wire can hide behind the trim? Any help/pics would be appriciated. thankx in advance. Bill Pics of my build so far in my album!!!! Cant wait to camp in it!!!!

I wired all of my DC circuits with 12/2 speaker wire, which is actually zip cord which is used for lamps and things so the insulation is good for at least 125 volts. Went with 12 ga. because of the voltage drop in smaller wire is more of a problem with 12 volts than with 110 AC, and I installed it all in the "ceiling" hidden from view.

I did all my wiring with speaker wire also. The clear stuff with copper & silver colored wire bought by the foot at h/d... don't know guage, but similar to lamp cord.... I buried it in the wall before putting it together.. I just ran the circular saw down and made grooves... keep a good map of where you put it so you don't put brads through the wire... and leave a coil for ceiling lights and vent fan.
