LED TailLights and my stupidity

Postby Juneaudave » Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:41 pm

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but what the heck, I'll ask!!!!...I need to order taillights and a license plate holder and want 50's style Pontiac lights arranged turn/stop/license/stop/turn (O O ___ OO).
The tow vehicle is a 04 Honda Element with factory 4 plug wiring harness.

Question(s)...can I use two LEDs for the stop/turn combo on the Honda? Or am I better off with a single 1157 combo signal?

I'm sooo confused!!! :? :? :?

I think all the wiring is the same, and if so, you can use any lights you like...

I think it goes like this

Green - right hand signal
Yellow - left hand signal
White - Ground
Brown - Tail lights

If you have more than 4 wires, refer to this page...

Dave...are the Pontiac lights wired up with 2 wires, so you have a brake and turn in one light? If so, you will need to add a ground to the light body and you don't need to do 4 lights if this is the case, unless you want. My Caddie lights have LED boards in them and will do running and turn/brakes, same light. Since you have a 4 plug connection...just figure out what is brake and what is running on the Pontiacs...and connect them up, If you want 4, just connect all the running lights together, and the rights and lefts on the turns. Tie in the liscense plate light to the running light wire..I think you'll find that the LED's put out a ton of light and 4 won't be necessary...order 2, check them out, if you want more order 2 more...they put an 1157 to shame....Doug

Juneaudave you can order 1950 style Pontiac taillights that have LED's built in.
You could go taillight&turn&stop/taillight&turn&stop/license/taillight&turn&stop/taillight&turn&stop or Jcwhitney has a logic circuit that will eliminate turn signal and only allow brake lights to work so then you would have taillight&turn&stop/taillight&stop/license/taillight&stop/taillight&turn&stop. License plate holder would just go to your running lights.

I'm not sure if I confused you more!!!
