Just to follow up on Mary's photo, some campsites only have the 30amp ( the big round one with 3 pins) They do sell adapters for them so you could plug in a 15 amp cord. They are usually under $10.

Would I need an adapter for a regular heavy duty household extension cord?

If you were plugging into the 30A socket, you would need this......

As you can see, it has the 30A on the side to the box, and the 15A on the other for the extention cord
