AM FM Antenna

Postby 4123 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 11:51 am

This may have been discussed before but I can't find anything regarding it. I am looking for one of those short "stubby" amplified radio antennas for our TD. I see them on Honda Elements, and all sorts of other small cars. I've looked at eBay and only find extensions or replacement shafts but not the complete antenna assembly.
Any suggestions? Thanks, Ron

This is the one I used.

I put it in the galley right next to the hinge. I works fine. I was able to get radio stations at IRG last year.

The one Rainjer shows is also the one we use. Hook the 12v lead from the antenna to the blue power lead from the radio (switched 12 volts), and it will only be on when the radio is on, thus saving your battery.

Try the junk yard

Postby dh » Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:13 pm

I have found all kinds of odds and ends at the pick your part type junk yards. Might even be able to get one off an Element.

I have this one in my fairing on my bike. 2 things to remember with this one are: 1) Will not work through metal. 2) Needs 12v power which most automotive 12v radios have a blue wire labled "power ant."

This was a timely thread, I am shopping for an antenna for the Gypsy Trailer. I was thinking about mounting it in the back of the closet. Should work OK through plywood walls and ceiling, shouldn't it?

Steve, I would think so. Mine is mounted inside my fairing, I can have my bike in the garage with all the doors closed and pick up signals great. Do a google search in images for Hogtenna. It should pop right up. If not go here: www.cycleaccessorystore.com $35 or so. I think I got mine from J&P Cycles. Might try them. Its a very easy install!
