American Enterprises Converter/Charger

Postby fishfinder » Tue Dec 08, 2009 2:39 pm

Looking for a little assistance. I just received my brand new 20 amp converter/charger. It is the right size and weight. However the installation instructions are a little paultry.

I have the fuses figured out. However I am not sure about the what breaker to get or how to wire this thing up. Has anyone else gotten one of these and wired it up? If so could you provide some additional information. A little wiring diagram would be helpful.

Thanks

Not Clear!

Not clear on what you need help on. The input side or the output side. Gimme a clue and I think we can get your question answered.

I looked on the net for some information and learned: American Enterprises-Factory: Hongkong. "American"? Ha!

Cheers,

Thank Gus. I have made quite a bit of progress on my search. It turns out that if you search for American RV you will find the organization. I spoke with them on the phone. The good news is that I now know how to hook the thing up. The bad thing is that they no longer are making these things and don't really recommend them. As far as the battery charger goes it is a joke. I have the 20amp unit which will probably do me just fine for my little TD.

Also it is recommended that you don't let the battery fall below 30 percent because it can blow the whole thing out. I can buy an up graded board ($75) which would prevent this.

If I just recieved it, it has defects, and I paid by credit card, it would be going right back and I'd be disputing the charge on my credit card! No questions asked. I encourage you to do the same.

My thoughts on converters in general see this string:

http://tnttt.com/viewto ... highlight=

The person that started the string (Capt Home Slice) went along with my (and other's) reasoning that a converter really isn't a required piece of gear. A good battery charger is all that is required if you have a battery in your tear.

Hope this helps but again I'D SEND IT BACK!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Gus
