Wiring of Chassis

Just thought to ask as to how you folks have run wiring on the chassis or frame when you started. Photos would really be good.

And how you hold the wiring in place on the frame..as well.

I built my tear on the HF frame. Being a little leery of HF quality, I built everything so it could be removed from the frame and plopped on a new one. Remove 8 bolts, get 8 guys to lift, slide out the old and slide in the new trailer. Simple. I hope I never have to do it. The lights and wiring are all part of the "house" and not on the trailer frame.

I'm not much for "planning," but making sure I had all the rough wiring in place was critical.

All the lights work. You can't jsut see the HF frame in this shot.

Heikki, I used the HF frame too and the wiring that comes with it is pretty straight forward. It uses color coded wires and wiretaps for the side lights. Also, it comes with clips to hold it to the frame. I will see if I can find some pics of the wire taps and clips or some thing.

OK, check the wiring diagram in this pdf for some idea of the HF trailer wiring

When I build another one, it will have a custom frame and I plan to use plastic pipe/tubing to run the wiring for the trailer lights through.

Since I am not doing the wiring... Most of the under trailer wiring is run in the blue plastic flex conduit to protect it the rest goes through the aluminum frame, up and over. The under trailer wiring is held up with plastic screw on clamps.
I would expect there are European standards but the North American/Canadian standards are ANSI/NFPA 1192 Standard for Recreational Vehicles NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NOT AVAILABLE THROUGH RVIA) - To order from NFPA http://www.nfpa.org/catalog.
From what I can see this is a very exacting set of standards and the RVIA standards include conversions.

Snow and ice is a killer on exposed wiring if you tow during inclement weather so I installed 1/2 " pvc with emt clamps fastened to the frame.
By using the Tees and elbows you can get where you need with the wiring I pulled the wire as I cut and glued the pvc and at intermediate splice such as for clearance lites I soldered and taped then installed a tee and fished the wire out.
Growing older but not up !
