Hoo boy. Thread outta control. Listen to Miriam. Get a 12V power supply, or battery eliminator, as they are often called. You can use an automotive relay to switch automatically from your battery to the power supply.

Um, too much info. Listen to Miriam...

run 'em direct off of your on board battery and purchase a battery tender.

I like mine on Chubby because if I were broke down at the side of the road ( no AC) I can still flip on my porch lights
( or any other interior dc light) to help see and be seen in the dark.

When Ya DO have AC let the tender recharge the battery.

Your junk yard guys can probably hook ya up with a decent battery for 5- 10 bucks.

The whole idea of 12 volt dc is so you have lights when you don't always have access to AC. If you have to plug in to get DC ya might as well just have AC lighting only.

Let me re direct this thread
The only reason I want to run the 12V lights on shore is cause they will work good in the tiny camper and I can't find a nice shallow enough light that I' like and won't bang my head on. I'll have no battery in this camper cause it's only 40"x6' and will be pulled tandem for the boys to sleep in most of the time.
