Computer fan input voltage range

Postby Lgboro » Wed Nov 10, 2010 9:33 pm

Does anyone know the voltage input range for computer fans? Instead of a Fantastic Fan, I built a fan and led light cover for a non powered vent. I have a couple of 12 volt pucks and a pcm variable speed controller for both sets of leds. I have not been able to find the specs on my four 92mm and two 80mm Zaleman computer fans and as the WFCO power converter and wish not to fry these units with almost 14 volts if they will be damaged by these voltages. The WFCO puts out 13.6 volts according to the documentation.

They will work just fine. I have the same converter and here is my vent fan. 8 of them on a 2 speed switch.

We had no problem with two Antec 120mm three speed fans. They are a brushless motor so should not be very sensitive.
