Anything electric, AC or DC

I simply hung a 3 speed pancake style 120 volt "ceiling fan" you can point it up or down right over your 12 volt vent as a temporary measure.

If all you are running is the fan, find out the amp draw and get a wall plug adapter. Just make sure it puts out 12v (9v may be enough to run the fan) and has enough amp output to run it.

Ok, five days, no reply, I have to ask, how does your tow vehicle fit into the equation?

Tow Vehicle

Postby nrody » Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:37 am

Sorry for the delay in getting back to the post. I got loged out and had trouble getting my password reset.

My Tacoma has a 7 pin factory installed power connect.
I think I have figured out the running lights and will work on that this weekend. (#1 electrical system)

(#2 electrical system) will be to wire 12v for my ventline fan and reading lights. I like the idea of the battery either in a removal tongue box or mounted under the frame of the trailer.

(#3 electrical system) will be to connect to shor power (I think) using the gfci and circut breaker system.

I just have to slow down and work this through and work on one thing at a time.

It is my nature to be impulsive and impatient. I want to get the tear on the road. So many places to see!!!

Removable tongue box

Postby nrody » Sat Jun 11, 2011 12:36 pm

Ok I think my best tion is a removable tongue bok. Does anyone else use one? or does anyone have any creative ideas how to make one ?

nrody wrote::oops: I am so confused. If I use the "super simple" wiring shore power input with power strip and gfci, do I need a converter if my fan is wired for 12v?

If you are referring to the "super simple" thread that I posted, here is what I would do to add a DC fan to my own system.

I would get a 12 AC-DC converter plug at Radio Shack, wire it to you fan, and plug it into one of the sockets in my powerstrip. All you need to know is what volts, amps -- whatever -- that your fan needs, and there is a converter plug for it.

That's what I would do on my TD. I'm sure there will be MANY members of this forum who will turn their noses up at that solution, but my system works, so I'm happy.

CD ;) :)

Interesting!

Postby nrody » Sat Jun 11, 2011 6:44 pm

First let me apologize for the typo's in my previous post. Dam smart phones!
Cant type accurately on mine.

The plug converter sounds like an interesting idea.

I will be camping with my grandson and I will want more than the fan and interior lights. He will want to watch a movie or plug in his Nintendo DSI. You know how 6 year old's are. Specially when they start bugging everyone in camp.

I know battery boxes should be ventilated. I just have to figure out what kind of box to use and where I want to put it.
If I make a custom size of the cargo carrier that uses a tow hitch to mount to, I can weld the receiver to my trailer frame The door of the tear only opens to a 90 degree angle over the tongue. There is some room for it behind the door on the front of the trailer.
Really appreciate all the great ideas I am sure I will find something I like hopefully soon.

That is cool you will take your Grandson camping. He will remember it over other things for the rest of his life. My oldest memory is of a road trip across the country when I was less than three.

I think these kind of things are important.
