What kind of battery do you use?
Just wondering if there is a preferred brand...

In the truck, Odessey 65-PC1750,
950 CCA
135 minet reserve capacity
Nominal 20 hours @ 74AH
One kick azz battery
Forgot to plug truck in at 50 below zero, spun it over like it was the middle of summer

if I could afford another one thats what the trailer would get also, it might actually move to the trailer and a new one go in the truck
As it is right now, I have a pair of Deka 24 group marine batteries
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

I had gone to batteries plus and bought a nice 120 A/h deep cycle for $100. It was a Group 34 Xtreme IIRC. Then my brother showed up with a massive 8D-MHD from Interstate that he thought was going to fit into his boat. It didn't. That was a $220 battery. He offered a trade and I reluctantly went with it.

The Xtreme weighed about 60 lbs IIRC, the 8D-MHD weighs 132 lbs.
As close as I can figure with the 8D-MHD, it has over 180 A/h (I think the math is right, 450 minutes at 25 Amps)

I would rather have 2 of the Xtreme's, and that is likely what I replace this one with when it comes time for that. 2 of them weighs less than 1 of the 8D-MHD's. Fortunately I'm a big guy and can move the the big battery by myself, I would still rather move 2 - 60lb batteries.

The whole thing works well though. For my limited use of 12v over the last camping trip, that battery ran a Fantastic Fan on 50% and various intermittent lights for 3 days without trouble. I plugged in the generator after that for a recharge, although I have no idea if I needed it. No battery monitor yet.

Lifeline 150AH AGM VERY expensive but longer life and it came through the accident undamaged but upside down (not a problem for an AGM).

I have an Interstate 60 Ah, AGM, deep cycle battery. I chose AGM technology because the battery lives inside the sleeping cabin of the teardrop.

The battery wasn't cheap (~$175), but so far it seems worth it.
