I had already settled on Casey Dog's super simple electrical set up with the 15 amp inlet and the 3 outlet cord. AC solved. But the idea of wiring the DC was kicking my butt, and since we like to go to Florida every year, doing with out the Fantastic Fan was not an option. I decided to go with a marine distribution panel, just because we're boating people, have always had them, have never had problems with them and they seemed "familiar." (Familiar is good when you're feeling mystified.)
So I went to West Marine's site to look at theirs. I decided this one would be perfect.
I have exactly four things to wire (cabin light, galley light, fantastic fan and stereo), and it has 2 DC plugs for phone and iPad charging.
Then I noticed they had a PDF file for the installation instructions. So I opened it up and saw this.....
So simple and clear that I finally felt I understood what I was looking at.
Now, let me preface this next part by saying that I don't tell my husband every teardrop thought I have, because I think about it SO MUCH that I sensed him getting weary of talking about nothing but teardrops months ago. It's not that he isn't interested. It's just that it's my project and I'm so obsessed about it and he has other things going on. So, when I showed him this, he looked at me with that....."my dear, are you serious" husband look and said, "Becky, how many times have I had to do the wiring on the boats.....all you had to do is ask me."
Problem solved.
Whew
