Battery ventilation

Postby Roger W » Tue May 01, 2012 2:36 pm

How much ventilation is needed in the battery compartment? I am determining where my battery will be located. Thanks for any help.

None, if you used an AGM battery.

I used an AGM for that reason but if you want to used a conventional deep cycle battery you need a vented battery box/compartment. Remember hydrogen is lighter than air. One example http://www.adventurerv.net/vented-batte ... -4085.html

All AGM battery manufacturers recommend venting AGM batteries as they can vent hydrogen under certain circumstance. Do a Google search on VRLA thermal runaway to learn more.
