Xenon puck lights

Hello all I was hoping to gather some user experience. I am at the point of wiring outlets and installing lights and was wondering if anyone had any experience using the 120 volt xenon puck sold at the big box stores. From what i understand they put off some serious heat. I was wondering if that would be a problem surface mounting the puck light. Thanks in advance. By the way absolutely love this forum i have lost many hours of sleep since finding it. Once you think you have seen the best way of doing something on a camper/teardrop someone comes up with a better one!!

Better choice would be LED. Less power, less heat.

I played with a set that sLowes had on markdown. Way to hot to use in a tear. I ended up building all led lighting.

I have a set of halogens that I picked up at Lowes. I had bought them awhile ago for another project and then lost them in the garage. Found them again and plan on using them in my 6x10. There are 3 in the box, and they are actually 12V, and worked fine when I clipped them to my jump starter.

IKEA has a number of light sets that are LED, have 3-4 pucks, and work on 12V. Some of them can change light colors by turning a dial. Not that expensive when you compare them to the stuff for RVs.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have been researching and will go with the the leds based on everyone's suggestions. I am doing 120 volts sp I should have plenty to pick from. I hope to post some pics. I am about three quarters of the way through so I hope its not to late to start a build journal
