Run the 12 volt output of your Honda generator into a "solar charge controller". The controller will properly charge the battery using the 12 volt output of your generator.
You could use one like this (of suspect quality though) or hold out for a "name brand" one being auctioned at a good price. Just make sure the controller can handle 8 or more amps.
