Hi, I'm new here. This will be my first post - I ordered a Harbor Freight trailer about a week ago. I can't wait to get started (the darn trailer is on backorder so who knows how long I'll have to wait for it!)

I've been researching LED lights. I really like the low power draw, cool temp and also I like the light color better than flourescent lights. I found a site that may be helpful - they sell tons of fixtures and also LED bulbs that can be used to replace juat about any other style of bulb.

They do have LED bulbs that fit in to halogen fixtures but they're pretty pricey. (it might be good for someone who already installed halogens and is now re-thinking that decision)

Does anyone else know of a better source for LED light fixtures?

I've been pretty addicted to this site for the last few days. I sit up reading until about 3am and dream about teardrops all night. I'm sure that I'll be getting to know many of you in the next few months. I've learned so much already - this is such a great resource!!

There's some links for LED info at the bottom of the page:

Well, I've got the kuffle creek cubby plans. I made a few changes to the shape and printed them out on regular paper. Then, just for fun, I resized the image and printed it out on 6 sheets of paper by 7 sheets (so that the image would be 4'x8'). I taped them all together. Now, at least I have a paper model that I think I really like.

The hardest part is that I have to keep myself from getting too carried away with nick nacks because my car can only tow 1,000 lbs. I'll be fine if I keep it simple but of course, my mind always gets caught up with ideas of fold out tables and slide out countertops. I actually hadn't planned to put a battery in until recently but the lights are just so darn useful. I'm sure that my plans will all change 100 times before I actually even begin construction. Actually, I'm hoping to start a new thread that would be ideas for where best to cut the weight down. If anyone has any ideas, I'd LOVE to hear them. I'm having such a tough time deciding what to sacrifice. The cubby plans "as is" are 910lbs. I'd rather leave a little bit more lee-way than that so I hope to cut out at least 100 pounds from that number.

Lindsey,
Check out Steve's site: http://www.stevewolverton.com/teardrop.html
I think he's the current low-weight champ.

Teardrop dreams and LED's

Postby ahjones3 » Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:39 pm

I've been pretty addicted to this site for the last few days. I sit up reading until about 3am and dream about teardrops all night.

Don't worry, this is a very common condition. After I found this site, and received my Cubby plans, I hardly ever slept. When I did fall asleep, visions of teardrops danced in my head.
Another good source for LED's is http://www.superbrightleds.com/index.htm
Good luck,
Al.

You guys need to check out the local boating supply for cool 12 volt stuff. I'm in California and have 2 great places real close by and they have huge websites. Just be warned if you send for a catolog,,,,, they are like 500 pages, but you'll get a lot of ideas and find a lot of stuff.

I found this light that looks really cool (I particularly like the "antique bronze" option) and also looks simple to install.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Sear ... ogId=10101

It has the switches right on the side of the light and combines dome and spotlights into one package. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the wiring details so I think that this might be perfect for me. JC Whitney has a lot of other interior light options available too.

TD lights

Postby txturbo » Sat Sep 03, 2005 1:35 pm

I have something I plan to use in my Tear. Its called EL wire. Its wire that glows when current is passed through it. Uses very little power, produces no heat, and is flexible like regular wire. Looks like neon. It also comes in white which is what I plan to use. Comes in various sizes and any length. Smallest size is 1.2 MM largest is 3MM. I'm a dealer for this stuff also. Will work on ac or dc with the right power supply.

Not personally, but MY distributor does. We also have Flexible Solar Panels , Solar Battery chargers, solar powered vents, and some LED lighting.
