al. or anyone else where do you find the 8 inch lanterns now.

and do they still make them?

it sound like in your early post they were being dicontinued.

sounds like some intertainment when the computer can' t do it any more this winter.

by the way a volume switch on a auto radio won't do the dimmer thing will it?

slowcowboy.

Hey SlowCowboy,

I found them on Amazon.com , I would look there. Otherwise maybe Ebay. A few years ago I found similar ones at Big Lots, too. It may be they were discontinued by one particular vendor, but I'm certain they still make them and they're still to be found. I never pursued the dimmer, as it turned out they're about right with the light they put out. So someone else can chime in about the dimmer options.

Keep us posted!

Well, this isn't 12v but I'm proud of it anyway. When I imported my Puck from Belgium, I did not think about the thing being 240v. So I had to rewire and replace fixtures. Couldn't find a small enough scaled lamp to my liking, so I made this one. Got the shade from Lowes and the swing arm off a thrift store lamp.

Hey Slow....

I picked up all of mine at A Dollar General store. They were in the picnic section as an oil lamp. This time of year you ought to find them on close out.

Happy hunting

Here is a link about converting them

Since we are talking about 12 volt homemade lighting can I toss in 3rd brake light ideas. I don't know what the DOT will say but here is what I did.

mounted my new 3rd brake light here.. ;)

The stock tail lights on the trailer were frame mounted so low that I was afraid in traffic the driver of vehicle behind may not be able to see my brake lights so I added my little lantern 3rd brake light to help. I guess if I get flack as a non DOT approved fixture ( althougt they started out approved) I will simply un plug it as it is plugged into the pigtail I use for tandum towing.
