Battery Charger Help!

I am in the process of wiring up the 12 volt side of the trailer and am running a battery charger. Question is: The 12 volt positive side of the charger (to the battery) came with a 7.5 amp fuse. I eliminated this fuse and wired the positive into the fuse block with another 7.5 amp fuse. Now, will this charge the battery running the current back through the fuse block? The charger is still protected but current flow runs from the charger to the fuse, across the fuse and to the positive side of the fuse box, then to the battery positive? Electrically this appears as though it should work - will it?

As far as fusing and protection, yes it should work. Keep in mind that some chargers don't like to be hard wired. Also, this should be a dedicated circuit; the fuse should not be used for powering lights, etc.

Should work as long as battery is connected to panel....

yep, but like Phil said, not all chargers can be hardwired...they will cause the battery to discharge back across the charger when it is not connected and charging....

Sounds like a job for "Isolation Diode".....

...yep, that'll work...when we did ours, we used a DPDT switch to control 12vdc to the battery and 120vac to the charger...worked oh so well for us....................
