Can you take apart the Marinco Marine On-Board Charger Inlet

I want to take the inlet apart and replace the inside with a extension cord plug and I was wondering how easy it would be to do it.

Just get one of these and you don't have to take it apart. I have one, it's basically just a grommet with a cap. It allows you to pull an extension cord out from the side of the trailer.

I'm having a hard time understanding why. I have the same exact plug on my teardrop and all I have to do is plug the female end of my extension cord into it. I plug the other end into the power source. Pulling a cord in & out seems like a lot of unnecessary effort and then there's an avenue for water. Danny

Quite the opposite.

Putting it back in yes, it can be a pain since there isn't a retraction system (on mine anyway). Hooking up is easier, if you park close enough to the pole you don't even have to get out the extension cord. Just pull it out of the hole and plug it in to the pole.

My exact thought.
Some of our Northwest gatherings require several extension cords pooled into one that hooks up to the shore power. Extension cords are a way of camping here, no biggie. My power goes into my cabin foot board cabinet, there's enough wiring there as it is. The extension cord goes in the tongue box wound together and clamped with a cable clamp, available from many stores including Walmart. Danny

You can pull it out without having to use an extension cord, yes it can be a pain to feed back in ....or if you do need an extension you can just pull out the plug and not have to fool with feeding it back in. It's also handy when you forget the extension cord or when the one you have just doesn't quite reach.

You have to remember, I'm probably one of the laziest campers around if it makes things easier for me then I'm all for it. Paper plates, plastic silverware, means nothing to clean. Dutch ovens clean out with hot water, I'm all about no extra work when camping.
