Here is what Ive picked up sofar for my build...

No only do you get an additional outlet compared to the triple splitter, but also a main power switch with built in 15A breaker and GFCI protection. 6ft cord should give enough length for the majority of installs. Seemed like the ultimate option for a super simple system!

4-outlet box with 8ft cord. Also power switch with 15A breaker. One for galley and one for inside the cabin. Hopefully 8ft should suffice to go directly to the above power strip or I may have to sacrifice an extension cord to rewire one of them. (trying to minimize the amount of in-line plugs)

12v 10A laptop style power brick. Plug directly into the main power strip and other end goes to a small fuse block for the 12v system.

In my case the 4th outlet on the power strip I plan to just plug an extension cord to tuck down by the head of the bed for convenience, as my wife often uses a heating pad.

That is super simple! Just going to be running off shore power or a generator it appears.

Yeah Im too attached to real toilets and showers to bother boondocking much. May as well get a powered site while I'm at it.

I've got a spare deep cycle battery from a previous basic solar setup I had in a shed for lighting. If I really need to I can easily unhook the power supply and drop a battery in place as long as I make appropriate patch wires ahead of time. But I'd rather spare the complication/aggravation/weight of a permanent battery in the camper. Me and lead-acid don't realy get along.

I pulled out a power box that my father gave me. He had it setup with solar power plug and USBs and such. Looks like it is a troller motor battery box with a built in breaker and charge meter. A few years ago he was into putting together a solar/12v setup for car/tent camping just before he decided he wasn't into camping much anymore. I opened it up and it is also a big deep cycle. So now I have two.. great :NC At least he also gave me a charger to keep them from going flat. And that box has multiple handles and nice insulated power posts with insulated wing nuts. I suppose it is the closest thing to a perfect option for me to swap in/out.

I forgot to mention Im planning to use a power cord hatch instead of the permanent mount plug. That way it would be easy to replace the power strip or plug if needed.

Okay, my Marinco power inlet came in today.

I am doing a foamie build, with 1.5" foam + probably .25" of canvas and gripper.... It would seem THis power inlet will NOT work for material that thick.

I am thinking using a segment of 4"x4" 1/4" plywood inlaid into the foam, with a 3"x3: full cut through so I only have to deal with the 3x3 1/4" thick section, make the connection, and figure out some way to insulate the gap.

What are other builders doing for mounting this and making the connection?

I have also noticed the 12ga wire is definately too thick for the rubber boot on the Marinco. I have some 14 and some 16 gauge cables in surplus that can be sacrificed for the cause. I'd really rather not go smaller than 14 though, and would sooner drill out the boot to fit a larger cable than undersize the cable for safety sake.

Updated.

I made a wee bit of an adjustment due to the size of the cable feeding through hole on the Marinco adapter.

I ended up sacrificing another "normal" 15 amp extension cord.

It's now sitting letting the caulk set for the bushing into the box...
