Question for those with circuit breakers?

Postby b.bodemer » Fri Sep 03, 2010 1:50 pm

Besides first testing a campground's shore power what are the steps that those who have cirucit breakers on board follow? Do you travel with your breakers OFF, then plug into shore and then turn breakers on?

What steps do you use when disconnecting(besides shutting things off)?

thanks in advance,

I leave my breakers on all the time and just plug the cord in when I get there. Same when i leave, just unhook the cord and go. Never had any problems yet or thrown any breakers.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Barb,

I leave the breakers in the trailer on.

When I go to plug in to the campground pedestal, I first flip the breaker on the pedestal off. Then I plug in and flip the breaker back on.

This is done to prevent arcing and pitting of both the plug and receptacle terminals if for some reason a high draw item was accidentally left on inside the camper.

Now, if you have a real basic electrical system (for instance maybe an outlet in the galley and another in the cabin) and you are sure there is nothing "plugged in," there's no reason to worry about it.
