I know a lot of people seem to like his blog but I can't stand it. The way he presents things just pisses me off.

That HandyBob is a crusty fellow, but I read his whole blog and honestly He makes a lot of sense. I've seen a few solar panel systems on sailboats and have yet to talk to a satisfied owner. Now, I have a better idea why.

I think Handy Bob is a bit of a curmudgeon, and part of that is driven by his frustration with installers that are clueless and either purposefully get it wrong to sell more stuff or are ignorant of the electrical facts of life in dealing with DC. Ignorance is curable stupidity goes all the way to the bone and when you add greed into the mix... :?

There is a thread on the iRV2 forum http://www.irv2.com/forums/f93/solar-th ... 66571.html that HB has responded to, (long and entertaining). A number of us want to know why something works and or does not, but certainly he has lots of experience with what does, and fixing what does not, And with that credential I pay attention.

One observation the level of ignorance on the iRV2 forum is shall we say entertaining, and one of the major inputs into what to have in your tool kit is a, wait for it, "credit card"

The lack of very basic skills is appalling in trying to maintain an RV that cost more than twice what our house did. It does not help that many of them seem to be made of ticky tacky.

Well, I read his post and he still pisses me off. I don't think he's evil, just condescending. I'd much rather spend time at Northern Arizona Wind & Sun forum were there is meaningful information to be gleaned, but that's just me.

Bruce, I also watch the Northern Arizona Wind & Sun forum and yes it is more informative but not very active in the RV end of things. Our needs are rather specialized.
I get a kick out of how helpless some of the behemoth owners are and appalled at how badly so many of them are built.
