when we built our teardrop they was a post telling how to wire the lights using the ground from the tow vehicle not using the trailer chasis as ground anybody know where i can find it. we have bought a 69 scotty highlander and the lights need completely redone.

Its really quite simple.... IF you are using a flat four plug and light wire (kit?) the white wire is the ground. it is uaually connected to chassis of tow vehicle. it goes through the flat four plug, and it may either be grounded to chassis of trailer or extended to each lamp holder ( tail/stop- marker) on trailer body/chassis...

The only thing I would add to Dale's post is that many choose to run a true ground wire to all the light fixtures instead of relying upon the frame (or in the case of a scotty the trailer skin) carrying the electrical load. I really struggled with the lights on my Aristocrat until I ran the ground wire.
