Grounding a sat tv dish in a tear?

I understand how to ground a Sat tv dish to the ac side of my electrical, but to use it off grid should it be grounded to the negative of the battery? I would like
the capability in case of natural disasters or power outages and want to do it the right way.

Short of driving in a ground rod there really is no way that I know of. It is only the LNB that has any electrical connection the dish grounding is static electricity protection if I understand it correctly. I have not yet tried ours so can not give a first hand.

Satellite dishes on houses are grounded to provide a low impedance path to ground for lightning strikes. Its not really an issue in a teardrop setting as the dish isn't usually mounted on the trailer. Besides, you've probably got bigger problems than an ungrounded dish if lightning is striking that close to your trailer! :rainy:
