wiring connections to galley hatch is done by??

Postby Ron Dickey » Wed May 28, 2014 2:00 am

I was wondering how others run the wires from the trailer to the galley hatch.

I want to run wires to the center of the hatch for roof lighting and lights for the license plate.

do you run them from the side or center? do you have a secret wired hinge that hides the wires?

do you put the wires in a wire tube or a box that expands as you lift it?

I guess if you did not have lights in the hatch you could have it connect when you shut the galley for power to the place lights.

I give up how do you do it ...... and pictures would help. :pictures:

I am just building the bow studs now. Hinge is in place and upper and lower cross pc's are in place. looking forward to the hatch working the fist time

My hatch wiring is not my finest moment, but here it is.

The wires run in the teardrop roof to the center of the hatch. Then they run through the galley wall under the hatch hinge to a box in the hatch. This box is also a splice box for the wires. If I wanted to remove my hatch, I would open this box, disconnect the wires, so that the hatch would have no connections to the teardrop. Wires are routed to the galley light and to the trailer backup lights. The trailer backup lights are also enclosed in a box. If you wanted to hide everything, then you could skin the inside of the hatch, but I didn't. After this picture, I put the last exposed wires you see in "wire saver" split, flexible conduit. I also painted everything.

Ron, I will use Trailer connectors from DelCity.net. Maybe auto parts stores sell them too.
