i need to make some modifications, like a grill surface for cooking, and finish the lid for transporting it, and a heat shield for the flex connection to the burner, and a gas regulator would be a wise choice, since it easily becomes a flame thrower, if i open the valve very far at all

To add to this old thread, we use a galvanized wash tub about 20 inch square and 15 inch deep that we bought at a local hardware store and drilled vent holes in the sides with a step drill. When in use we always put an inch or two of sand or dirt in the bottom, and make sure you burn off the galvanizing with a nice hot fire the first time you use it [toxic fumes]. It only weighs a couple of pounds when empty and we have burned hundreds of cords of firewood before having to make another one.

We put a BBQ across the top to cook on it sometimes, you can see a picture of it in action in my gallery.

We got the Bonefire 2.0 version (on sale now) and it's incredible. Puts out a lot of heat and almost zero smoke. You can get grill attachments and even a pizza oven attachment, comes in a nice carrying case as well.
