Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I'm putting together a checklist of what I want to take on our trip to Colorado in a couple weeks, and I know I need to put together some kind of tool bag. I know its hard to predict what might happen, but what are the most common problems you guys have run into while camping where you needed tools? Any help is appreciated.

I carry a wrench that fits my hitch ball, an adjustable wrench, hammer, a few screw drivers, wire cutter/stripper, pliers, vise grips.

Tire pump.

And a large roll of duct tape.

Fortunately I so far haven't needed any of it.

I take along an air pump for tires and eventually for the air shocks a torque wrench, inexpensive harbor freight, and socket set for wheel lugs.I also take along a VOM and set of fuses as well as spare LEDs. The ubiquitous duct tape a set a bungee cords and wire ties.

Thanks guys. Keep the ideas flowing. I'm putting together a small tool bag that will slip under the back seat of my truck. Probably not a bad idea to keep it in there permentaly.

Wire stripper/cutter/crimper, electrical tape, mallet, adjustable wrench, electrical ties and stuff to change a tire and duct tape. I've had to rewire or repair lites on 2 different trips in the tear and the rest you can use just in case.

I have a small bag I keep in the Teardrop at all times. Besides those things mentioned , I have hatchet ,doubles as a hammer. Fuses, razor knife, spring clamps and bungee cords. These I store inside my charcoal chimney in the tongue box.

Alright.....so my list looks like this so far:

1. Cresent Wrench
2. Wire Crimpers
3. All-in-One Tool
4. Silicone
5. WD-40
6. Duct Tape
7. Someone who knows what their doing

Does that just about cover it?

I carry a tool kit I put together and it stays in my camper.





I've added a couple of things to the tool kit and upgraded to a hard plastic tool box. I think I like the bag style better for storing.

I also carry rope, electrical and pipe tape.

The duct tape came in very handy when I had a blowout (helped cover the gaping hole under the sink cabinet). I keep a couple of good flashlights in the camper.

I also carry some metric end wrenches, ball peen hammer, a good punch and chisel, pry bar, 3/8s ratchet and some sockets. One deep reach 11/15s socket to fit the nuts holding my spare tire on.

And one of those cross bar lug wrenches. Make sure it has the sized you really need.

And a little hacksaw.

That has saved my bacon a time or two.

Lots of good ideals.....Having been a mechanic for 30 years I probably carry too much....haha
But add to it

Battery Jump Box / Air Compressor
Tire plug kit for those emergency fixes
Tire Pressure Gage

In addition to the items mentioned earlier, I carry a can of wheel bearing grease, extra wheel bearing and cap. You can actually store the spare wheel bearings in the can of grease.

I think about what I would need if, for what ever reason, my trailer construction started coming apart. And what I would need to be able to get it back home.

- electric screw driver/drill
- 1-5/8" drywall screws
- 2-1/2" drywall screws
- flattop screws
- chicken bands
- galvanized steel wire
- duct tape

I figure with the above I can fix any panels or anything that springs loose - whatever the reason.

In addition to what I posted earlier I also carry jumper cables. The set I have is some nice heavy long copper ones. I use them to start semi trucks and farm tractors. Should do for my Suzuki Vitara



Also a tow strap and several hunks of chain so I can hook it to almost anything. My good pocket knife. Often some electrical connections and extra wire and pliers. I also often take an extra set of front lock out hubs for my 4x4 encase one breaks when I am in the boonies.

sometime i might take a picture of my kit. I have been farming just about all my life and have fixed a mess of messed up things. Need to fix the grain combine in the morning so I can get back to harvesting.
