After three weeks and a complete removal and disassembly of the teardrop's suspension system, it's all back together and out of the garage, ready for its next trip.
The leaf spring was not broken, as I previously suspected. The leaf springs on each side of the trailer are different, for some reason. On the passenger side, the 2nd leaf is longer, front and back, and overhangs the eye of the spring. On the driver side, that same leaf is shorter and doesn't overhang

There is some evidence that someone had taken the suspension apart previously because bolt lengths were different on each side of the trailer, and two cotter pins had been replaced with bent nails

But the main thing is that the trailer is ready for out next outing, later this month.
