harbor freight does not sell 5 x 8 trailers anymore?

Postby mkurczewski » Tue May 06, 2014 9:19 pm

I have been to our local harbor freight and on their website, I don't see any 5 x 8 trailers anymore. I am thinking of building the cubby on a 5 x 8 frame. What other 5 x 8 would be most compatible with the cubby?

I don't think HF ever had a 5' trailer. Northern Tool has a 5 x 8 that lots of people use.

Exactly. But they're actually made by the same manufacturer, Changzhou Nanxiashou, just sold under different names from different companies.

Here are the biggies....

Lowes , tractor supply , big R farm stores, and Menards all handle the Carry-on brand built by some good ol' Georiga boys.

Home depot carries Load star trailers out of Ontario Canada.

The only Taiwan manufacture I found was Long Chih Inc who builds the Northern Freight light duty trailers.

The highest praise came from Rural Kings 5x8 which is built by Tarter industries a Kentucky Family operation since 1945 now with a 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Utah. This one was the only one with 13" tires standard !
Growing older but not up !

Redtrailers.com sells a 5x8 trailer with a better tongue design than HF (at least IMO) They also have an upgrade option to a 13" 5 bolt pattern tire. They seem a bit more spendy, but its the direction I was planning on going and could be worth it. I also like the fact that they have a 36" tongue extension option for better turning radius.
If they don't find you handsome....

Thanks for the answers. I thought HF did sell a 5 x 8 for some reason.

Redtrailers.com also sells pieces if you want to stretch the trailer to a 5x9 or 5x10!

I used a Red Trailers 5x8 a few years ago. I bought the axle/wheel upgrade, then stretched it as well to build a 5x10 tear.
Holy cow, Rose is a teenager now! Done? Surely you jest. A teardrop is never "done".
