torsion half axles and a lightweight frame upgrade

Since we moved in Aug of '11 my TD has been on jacks in the garage. We couldn't afford to register 3 cars here in MA (I didn't want to move here, but the living is free as I am a caretaker here) so the Ranger is gone. That meant I needed a utility trailer... so the carry on no floor trailer has a box on it now.
Instead of buying another carry on trailer, or a harbor freight, red trailer, etc. I am looking into transforming my TD into a "frameless" TD.
The current floor is 3/8 marine Mahogany ply, two sheets going cross wise, my plan is to add another layer going front to back laminated with marine epoxy. then make a frame using http://www.angib.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/t ... tear57.htm
however instead of using a dexter #8 I was thinking of using these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Torsion-Trail ... 5761wt_903
and having 4angle iron frame members, two to the outer mounts and angle iron along the edge of the TD, and two running to the inner torsion axle half mounts all the way to near the tongue attachment to allow me to have a heavier tongue box.
My TD is completely glued together with PLpremium, the only fasteners are 3" long deck screws used to reinforce the wall to deck joint. (belt and suspenders)
- I think the floor would be stronger thanks to the laminated plywood, than if it was just one slab of 3/4" marine ply.
-Are torsion half axles not as good as a dexter #8 ?
-would the inner brackets of the torsion axles have to be tied together with a plate or would through bolting them to the plywood deck with an inner reinforcement plate be strong enough?
-should I go for the 2000# springs or the 1400#? I am thinking 2K as that is what the hitch/car/wheels are rated at.
I think this would lower the TD height a good bit as well as be cheaper than buying another trailer.
does anybody see a problem with this?
see my WWW for pics, I can post more if needed. the current beams under the TD will be removed to glue on the second layer of marine plywood. (free from the USAF)

No response yet? So what ever happened? This ultra light idea looks pretty innovative. I'd love to know more.

I got a couple free pop ups and tore one down for the frame, it was quicker and cheaper

I have torn down a palomino colt popup for the trailer. It was well used and a bit abused, so rather than pay the big $$ for new canvas on the popup, I opted for a Tear. I am also looking for axle change to get away from the 12'' wheel and move them further outside the frame.

I was looking at the same style of short axle too.
