Generic Benroy question (attaching walls)

The Generic Benroy manual indicates that the floor should overhang the frame by about 0.25" but doesn't explain why. Is it to provide a breathing space so that the part of the wall that would otherwise be pressed against the frame doesn't rot?

I left that gap there in case of inaccuracies in the chassis. And when bolting up a trailer, that kind of stuff can happen.

You could bolt it up tight against the chassis. The wood that touches the chassis should be protected anyways, with either tar or CPES.

Myay be wrong but the floor in mine hangs over by 1/4 or so. This overhang goes into a slot that is cut into the wall to lock it together. That is how the galley shelves are installed as well. They do not sit on 2x2s they just ride in the slots and is nailed in place. Hope you can make out what it is that I am tring to get across.

Here is my attempt at howit should look. The side is against the frame and bolted each foot or so with 1/4 bolts.
