I think I've got at least 8", but will have to check.
There is a small problem in fitting them after the front cross member is in place. either the left or right ( I forget which ) outside rail is a little lower than the other. Plus I'd like to get the blue beams in place before removing the old. And one of the old will be cut up to patch this hole, on both sides of the beam.
I propose to tackle the job in steps as follows :
- tack the blue beams in place
- remove one of the existing beams
- Cut it up along the corners
- use the wider pieces to patch the middle rail properly
- fit & weld the front cross member to the side rails & blue beams
- finish welding the blue beams to the side & center rails
- remove the remaining old rail.
hope that makes sense
I'm expecting that doing it this way. The structure will not get out of alignment. Assuming of course that it is currently aligned properly, which I should check sooner, rather than later. And I may be able to eliminate the height mis-match problem.
Chicken Legs,
We only seem to have one grade of disk over here. "noname"!!!
They don't have any grading whatsoever.
