Flooring/frame question

Postby pete.wilson » Mon Jul 21, 2008 8:01 pm

Hey

I went and looked at a little 5X8 utility trailer that had 2X6's for the floor; should these be unbolted and removed amd then discarded or can you lay 1/2" flooring on top and fasten the floor to the 2X6's. Also since it has the metal rail sides going around the trailer should you bolt the sides and use this rail, or pay the expense to have them removed? One other thing it need was to have tongue support welded to the chassis to make it more rigid. It did have 14" tires and steel fenders and was in OK shape. Thoughts anyone? $600 was asking price.

P.S. Originally I wanted a 5X10 trailer, and I like the LiL Diner plan.
Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.

When I ordered my trailer, it came standard with a 2x6 floor which I had them leave off. Adds too much weight. But yes, you can just put the floor on top of them. If it were me, I'd take the side rails off. $600 sounds a little high for a used trailer, but I haven't seen it either. You can get a new 5x10 for that much.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.
