Looking for basic 12v diagram....

Postby KDOG » Wed Aug 13, 2008 6:42 pm

I'm not going to go all out crazy for my camper. I'm going to have a separate 12v system from the super-basic 110v system. Can anyone post a simple 12v system diagram? My intentions are going to be kinda like this: Battery>12V"cigarette lighter adapter thingie with surge/overload protection with more than one dongle>DC-AC converter maybe 4-500W draw capacity. It won't be enough to run a microwave and/or an A/C, but just about everthing else. I have some questions though, and I will root through the stickies as well.

Proper grounding for the batteries?
More than one battery? If so, best way to wire them together?
What is the highest *safe* current draw a car battery can take?
Where do you mount the battery? Up front in a box on the tongue? How do you seal it from the elements?

Sorry if I'm annoying anyone, but I appreciate any help you can give...

Go through the electrical secrets section of the forum. Most of what you asked are in the stickies at the top of that forum.
