I should buy this trailer?

Postby needafixit » Fri Mar 20, 2009 10:32 am

I have been reading on here for a couple weeks,I think the right trailer for me is the 5x8 NT @ $370 seems to be the best 5 foot wide trailer for the money. rated at 1500# to 2000# depending on who you ask, It looks like it will require little or no modification for what I am going to build. I am going to build a 5x10 tear or a 6x8/10 long TTT , I have not decided yet ,but this trailer should work fine for either one. Is there anything I'm overlooking?

All I did was have some cross members welded to the trailer. What this did was add a little strength to the tongue and provide a place to mount my tongue box. Here is a link to someone that did some cross members and took some good pictures of it.

I used angle iron instead and I didn't weld on my tongue jack so I had room to mount my tongue box. I also did it a little differently but I like the way he did it better. I think it cost me $40 for the material and the welding.

Needa,
Sounds like that trailer should work for you. I've never used the NT trailer before but I would probably take the tongue strengthening advice into consideration, the single tube tongue looks a little weak, however I'm no trailer expert.
