VIN tag question

Postby Aaron Coffee » Sat Jul 18, 2009 11:18 pm

The trailer I'm buidling on is a Nu-Way bolt together trailer, originally 48" long, stretched to 74" long. The vin sticker has deteriorated to the point that it is unreadable. Should I go to the court house and ask for a replacement, or retitle it as a homebuilt, or just leave it as is and play dumb if I ever get stopped and they would check for the vin?
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Beg, Borrow, or . . . . well anyways get a set of Numbered Steel punches and stamp that VIN number in plain sight! One - it's the same number as assigned to the trailer - that's golden when it comes to registration and perhaps titling if needed. second - it helps to identify YOUR camper if it should somehow come missing. Third - no unnecessary paperwork to re-title the trailer!
