Cheap trailer parts but good quality.

Just a FYI. I have been shopping around for trailer parts for my build. I have shopped Tractor Supply, Norther tool, Harbor frieght etc. Well I finally found what I wanted and got it at the best price so far. Just to give you an idea.

(2) 4.80 x12 tires
(2) spoke white wheels
(2) 5 studed hubs
(2) spindels
(10) Lug nuts
(4) bearings
(2) seals
(2) u-bolt kits
(2) level jacks
(2) seals
(1) jack handle

All for $164.....NEW.

I just found these guys and this is what they do everyday. It's called
Southwest Wheel in Dallas TX.

They handle everything with trailers and rolling gear.

I figured if someone is looking you might like this info. Good Luck

They wanted $200 just for the 425 Lb half axles -- I can't seem to find those anywhere for 'cheap'.

I didn't price the half axles. But the $164 was with tax. I don't know what the rate usually is for the half axles but I built mine. It's just a solid axle. Usually the ones like I build (solid, spindles and hubs) run about $120 with out tires/wheels. I have an advantage too, I can weld so I guess I saved myself a little bit. I ended up going to the local lumber yard and picked up a 1.5 inch od X 48" black pipe for $16.00 and welded it together.

I did price the 4.80 x 12 wheel /tire combination at Tractor supply for $59.99ea. At Southwest Wheel the same combo was $33.00. That's about a $27.00 difference per wheel/tire.

Anyway I know I'm starting to sound like I work for them but I don't. I was driving up to Carrollton from Hillsboro and stopped by to see what they had and ended up buying it while I was there. So i save myself shipping which is another factor to look into when pricing stuff.

I've bought from them several times.

Nothing but good experiences.

I'm actually just west of Ft. Worth myself, so driving there is also an option. I do think the torsion axles are a bit more expensive, but it fits what I'm trying to do a little closer. It's not that big of a deal -- I'm just cheap! $>

Don't feel bad I'm cheap too! Well actually broke so I have to be cheap. I love to build things so this is adding to my list of accomplishments. plus I might actually save money in the long run doing this.
