Tires hitting fenders, fix ideas?

Postby Aaron Coffee » Sun Oct 30, 2011 6:05 pm

Took my fenders ( a pair of Grants 12" fenders) and found where the tires have kissed the under side of the fenders.

Don't really want to have to drill new holes, and I mounted the axle on top of the springs. SO I was thinking of putting some 1/2 steel between the spring mounts and frame. Would this work? Any other thoughts?
Thanks
Aaron

It doesn't look like it would take much.

Do your spring mounts bolt to the frame or are they welded?

That's a good start

For about $15 you can get a pair of polyurethane bump snubbers that bolt on between your axle and frame if that would help.

I agree with Steve - those Bump stops would make sure that there is absolutely no spring travel beyond the stop - it might be a bit jarring to the camper if you hit the "big One"

Use a longer set of shackles.

I would use bump stops, shave them as small as possible

Have slipper springs so I don't have shackles, will dig around the garages as I might have some rebound bumpers off of one of my cars.
Thanks
