Aluminum trim extrusions (source?)

Postby snal » Sun Nov 13, 2011 10:03 am

I'm looking for a source for trim extrusions (roof/wall trim) for my upcoming build. Trailer will have a flat roof, so I'm looking for a 90deg. profile, the bigger the better.
Anybody know of a source?

Your best source is to buy it locally at an RV Dealer.

Shipping will KILL YA!

You should use continuous long lengths. It costs as much to ship 2-3 lengths as it does 30.....A LOT!

Your local dealer should have it and it should run between $25-40 a 16' length.

Happy Trails

Check out what Grant Whipp sells at Li'l Bear Tagalongs:

The windows and all exterior aluminum door and roof moldings I used for my TD were from him.

It helps to know where in the country you live. Lots of places near Elkhart Indiana and Portage Michigan has Vintage Technologies. It;s Vintek on Ebay.

Check local RV dealers/repair. You might have to call a few as some apparently don't carry trim or won't sell it. I bought 30' of insert moulding with the vinyl insert for under $100 at a local dealer, only had it in white, but I think the color has grown on me.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Thanks all! I think I've decided to simply use 2x3 architectural angle for the roof/wall trim...and 2x1 for the bottom trim.
Hopefully my plans will be here tomorrow...so I can start cutting and welding...LOL!

BTW...I'm in western NC.

I'd recommend looking up a metal supplier in your area. Just call them up and ask if they sell retail. If they do, ask if they have it. If not ask them who does. Except for the 105in wide aluminum and the tongue which was replaced later, I bought all my steel and aluminum at one place. It wasn't the cheapest place in town, but they cut the sticks which made it much easier to transport.

I own a metal fabrication shop, and none of my suppliers carry the trailer specific trim.
I did find some that only had a 5/8" leg on the roof, but I want more coverage than that.
